We are a group of likeminded, fun loving individuals from all walks of rural life, and from all over the local area. Members vary from the ages of 15 to 30. Anyone is welcome to join us for our weekly meetings and other such events, there is no obligation to sign up straight away, simply come and see how you get on.
Tuxford YFC meets every Wednesday evening at 7.30pm based at Egmanton village hall but our meetings take us all over the county. Hockey takes place at the Dukeries sports centre in Ollerton starting at 6.30 for an hour every Sunday evening. As well as hockey we take part in a number of sports and competitions ranging from swimming bowling, from quizzes to clay shooting. We also have a large entry in the Newark and Lincoln shows, entering in the crafts, stock judging and driving competitions.
In addition to the sports and social side of young farmers, is our commitment to charity. Each year we choose a different charity to support, taking suggestions from the members of the club. We have had great fun in the past in raising money for charity through events such as the tractor pull from Kirton to Thoresby House.
For those of you who wish to take an active role in the organisation, there are numerous roles of responsibility on the club committee. These roles range from Chairman or Treasurer to Entertainments Secretary and County Show Secretary. As well as club committee, there are also positions at County and National levels of Young Farmers, this is both rewarding and is useful to put on a CV.
If you are interested in joining the club or just trying it out, please contact either:
or pop along to one of our meetings at the village hall or elsewhere. We now have a new web site: www.tuxfordyfc.co.uk where you can check on what's coming up as well as what we have been doing. For a full list of our meetings please contact one of us and we will send you a copy.
